The original Slash APH-2 humbucker set earned its stripes over a decade of stages and studio sessions, but touring life with Guns N’ Roses and Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators revealed a need for more output when the amps get cranked in a live mix. Rather than start from scratch, Slash asked Seymour Duncan for the same tone he already trusted, just with more push behind it.
The result is the Slash 2.0 set, built on the APH-2 foundation but rewound hotter. Slash’s own brief to the team summed it up: same tonality, same clarity, but hotter. That extra wind translates into a tighter response under gain, with a balance of volume, drive, and compression tuned for real-world amp performance rather than bedroom levels.
