Description
Charvel built this Pro-Mod San Dimas Style 2 HH around the exacting preferences of Gojira frontman Joe Duplantier, translating the band’s signature blend of crushing weight and melodic nuance into a working stage instrument. Finished in Satin White with a contoured nato body and 1-ply black binding, it’s a guitar designed to disappear into the performance rather than get in the way of it.
The bolt-on mahogany neck adds graphite reinforcement for extra stability under drop tunings and heavy attack, while a compound 12″-16″ ebony fingerboard smooths out the transition from open chords to upper-fret lead work. Twenty-two jumbo frets, a Telecaster-style headstock, and a heel-mounted spoke wheel truss rod adjustment round out a neck profile built for speed and comfort, finished in a natural oil that keeps the feel fast and unfussy.
Tone comes from a matched pair of Duncan Designed HB-103 humbuckers (bridge and neck), routed through a simple 3-way toggle and single master volume knob — deliberately placed slightly back from the playing position to stay out of the way during aggressive picking. Charvel’s compound radius compensated bridge with anchored tailpiece keeps intonation locked in across the fretboard’s changing curve, and die-cast locking tuners with black hardware throughout keep tuning stable through the most punishing sets.
