Description
The SH-3 Stag Mag solves a problem guitarists have wrestled with for decades: how do you get authentic Fender single-coil twang out of a humbucker-equipped guitar? Seymour Duncan’s answer is a bridge pickup built around alnico 2 rod magnets set in the traditional Fender pole stagger, wound specifically so that splitting the coils delivers a bouncy, bright, genuinely Strat-like voice—not a thin or hollow imitation.
Leave it running as a full humbucker and you get a different personality entirely: fat, smooth, and high-output, with enough push for rock rhythm and lead work. The 4-conductor lead wire is what makes the whole dual-purpose design possible, giving you the wiring freedom to install a mini-toggle or push-pull pot and switch between humbucker and single-coil tones on the fly.
Every Stag Mag is hand built at Seymour Duncan’s Santa Barbara, CA factory using alnico 2 rod magnets and a nickel silver bottom plate, then vacuum wax potted to keep things quiet and squeal-free even at higher gain. For a complete dual-humbucker setup with coil-splitting versatility across both positions, pair it with an Alnico II Pro or Pearly Gates neck pickup.
