Description
The SE Standard 24 puts PRS’s most iconic design—the Custom 24—into an all-mahogany body, giving players a warmer, rounder foundation than the maple-top original while keeping the same 24-fret playability. The set-neck mahogany neck carries a Wide Thin profile that suits fast lead work and rhythm chording alike, capped with a rosewood fretboard and PRS’s signature bird inlays running up the 25″ scale length.
Under the hood, PRS-Designed HFS and Vintage Bass humbuckers handle the tonal duties, wired to a volume knob, tone knob, and 3-way blade switch with coil-splitting on tap. That combination lets this guitar move between thick, saturated humbucker tones and brighter, single-coil-ish textures without reaching for a different instrument. Plugged straight into an amp or run through a pedalboard, it holds up equally well, and the PRS-Designed tremolo bridge with PRS-Designed tuners keeps things stable whether you’re riffing or diving into pitch bends.
PRS launched the SE Series back in 2001 to prove that serious build quality doesn’t require a serious price tag, and the SE Standard line pushes that idea even further into sub-$500 territory. Nickel hardware throughout gives the finish a classic look, and this particular example arrives in Vintage Cherry with a gig bag included for getting it from bedroom to stage without extra shopping.
