Description
The KEXMG Kelly is Jackson’s angular X Series shredder, built around a three-piece maple neck-through-body construction for maximum sustain and stability. The basswood body keeps things light and resonant, while the graphite-reinforced neck holds tuning stability under heavy bends and aggressive playing.
Up top, a compound-radius rosewood fingerboard (12″ to 16″) delivers comfortable chording near the nut and effortless bends up high, spread across 24 jumbo frets marked with Jackson’s signature pearloid sharkfin inlays. White binding traces the neck and headstock, contrasting against the black painted headstock and white Jackson logo for a classic metal-shop look.
Electronics come straight from the modern metal playbook: an EMG 81 in the bridge for tight, high-output aggression, paired with a smoother EMG 85 in the neck for leads and rhythm work. A 3-position blade switch and simple master volume/tone controls keep things straightforward when you’re focused on playing fast, not fiddling with knobs.
The Floyd Rose Special double-locking 2-point tremolo, paired with a locking nut, means your tuning stays put through dive bombs, flutters, and everything in between. Black hardware throughout – including Jackson’s sealed die-cast tuners and dome-style knurled control knobs – ties the whole look together with the Tobacco Burst finish.
