Gus G. earned his spot as one of metal’s most respected players the hard way – a decade of touring, more than a dozen studio albums, stints with Arch Enemy and Dream Evil, and his own band Firewind. Then Ozzy Osbourne came calling in 2009, tapping Gus to carry on a Jackson lineage that stretches back to Randy Rhoads. This JS32 Star puts that same aggressive, playable design in reach of players who want the real deal without the custom shop tag.
The Star body shape is one of Jackson’s original outside-the-box designs, built here in lightweight poplar with a satin finish and black pinstripe accents. A one-piece bolt-on maple neck adds graphite reinforcement and a scarf joint for stability, while the 12″-16″ compound radius rosewood fingerboard is bound in white and loaded with 24 jumbo frets and pearloid sharkfin inlays – plenty of room to move for fast, technical lead work.
Jackson’s own high-output humbucking pickups sit in the bridge and neck positions, controlled by a single volume knob and a 3-way toggle for quick tonal shifts. A radius-compensated TOM-style bridge with anchored tailpiece keeps tuning stable under aggressive playing, and everything is finished off with black hardware and Jackson’s pointed 6-in-line headstock for that unmistakable silhouette.
