Description
The G6228 Players Edition Jet BT takes Gretsch’s compact, punchy Jet body and pairs it with hardware and electronics built for players who want serious tonal range from a single instrument. This isn’t a vintage reissue chasing nostalgia — it’s a modern workhorse designed to move fluidly between crunchy rhythm tones and shimmering, articulate cleans.
At the core is a 1.85″ chambered mahogany body topped with laminated maple, giving the guitar a solid-body feel with an open, resonant voice. The chambering adds air and sustain without sacrificing the midrange punch mahogany is known for, and the result is a guitar that feels lively in your hands and translates that energy through the amp.
Powering the sound are Gretsch’s Broad’Tron BT-65 pickups, developed by veteran pickup designer Tim Shaw. These humbuckers are built to capture the guitar’s natural character rather than flatten it — expect robust low end, present mids, and a top end that stays clear without turning harsh, whether you’re pushing into overdrive or backing off for sparkling clean tones.
The neck is carved from mahogany in a Standard “U” profile, topped with a rosewood fingerboard set to a 12″ radius and finished with 22 medium jumbo frets. Aged pearloid Big Block inlays and aged white binding on both the neck and body give it a worn-in, road-ready look that matches the Candy Apple Red gloss finish.
