Description
The G5655T-CB Electromatic Center-Block takes the classic Double Jet shape and reinforces it with a solid spruce block running the length of the 1.75″ deep body. That interior bracing is the difference-maker here: it tightens up the resonance of the five-ply maple body, keeping things musical and controllable even when you’re running higher gain, while still letting that signature Gretsch air and snap come through.
Pickup-wise, you get a dual-coil Super HiLo’Tron in the neck for a bright, sparkly top end with a surprisingly low-noise, full low end, paired with a Black Top Filter’Tron at the bridge. Flip between them (or blend both) using the three-way toggle, with independent volume controls for each pickup, a dedicated tone knob for the bridge, and a master volume rounding out the four G-arrow knobs.
Playability comes from a bound maple neck with a 12.5″ radius rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. The arched top and back are bound as well, giving the whole guitar a finished, vintage-correct look in gloss Black.
Hardware is all business: an anchored Adjusto-Matic bridge paired with a flat-handle Bigsby-licensed B50 vibrato for pitch dives and shimmer, Grover die-cast tuners for tuning stability, and knurled strap retainer knobs so it stays put on stage. A synthetic bone nut and D’Addario XL110 strings (.010-.046) round out the build.
