Description
The G5420T is Gretsch’s entry point into true Electromatic hollow-body tone, and it doesn’t hold back. Built from 5-ply maple with parallel tone bars and a sound post, the body breathes and resonates the way a proper hollow-body should, letting the dual Black Top Filter’Tron pickups do their thing: punchy, articulate, and full of character whether you’re chasing rockabilly slap or fat jazz chords.
Finished in Fairlane Blue with a glossy sheen, this guitar wears its style well. Oversized bound F-holes and aged multi-ply binding give it a vintage-correct look, while the smaller late-’50s-style G6120 headstock keeps things classic. The maple neck carries a comfortable “U” shape profile, a 24.6″ scale, and a rosewood fingerboard dressed with Pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays across 22 medium jumbo frets.
Controls go beyond basic volume and tone: independent volume knobs for each pickup, a master volume with treble-bleed circuit, and a master tone give you real shaping power without losing high end when you roll back. A Graph Tech NuBone nut, Adjusto-Matic bridge on a secured rosewood base, and vintage-style open-back tuners round out the hardware, and the Bigsby B60 vibrato tailpiece adds that unmistakable shimmer and dive.
