Description
The G5420T is where the Electromatic line earns its reputation as the real deal — not a scaled-back tribute to Gretsch tone, but a genuinely hollow, genuinely loud rock ‘n’ roll machine. Built on a laminated maple body with a 16″ lower bout, it breathes and resonates the way a true hollow body should, pushing air through oversized bound F-holes and aged multi-ply binding that give it vintage character straight out of the case.
Plug in and the dual Black Top Filter’Tron humbuckers take over, delivering that signature Gretsch snap and punch with a clarity that cuts through a mix instead of getting lost in it. A 3-position toggle lets you flip between bridge, neck, or both, while independent volume controls for each pickup, a master volume with treble bleed circuit, and master tone give you real shaping power on the fly — not just an on/off switch dressed up as controls.
The maple neck carries a comfortable Standard “U” profile into a 12″ radius rosewood fingerboard, fitted with 22 medium jumbo frets and pearloid Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays. A Graph Tech NuBone nut and secured Adjusto-Matic bridge with rosewood base keep tuning stable and intonation solid, while the smaller late-’50s-style G6120 headstock and vintage open-back tuners round out the retro details. Of course, there’s the Bigsby B60 vibrato — smooth, shimmering pitch effects that are practically synonymous with this guitar’s DNA.
Finished in a striking Candy Apple Red with chrome hardware, this G5420T looks every bit as bold as it sounds.
