The Godin xtSA isn’t trying to be a specialist – it’s built to cover every base on one instrument. Flip the 5-way switch and you’re moving between full humbucker punch and glassy split-coil clarity from the guitar’s humbucker-single-humbucker layout. That’s your electric voice sorted.
Roll back the magnetic pickup output and bring up the RMC transducer saddles built into the tremolo bridge, and the xtSA shifts character entirely, producing a surprisingly authentic acoustic tone shaped further by an onboard preamp with a 3-band EQ. Because the guitar has separate electric and acoustic/mix outputs, you can blend both voices right at the guitar with a single cable, or send them out separately to an amp and mixer for full control live or in the studio.
Then there’s the synth side. A built-in 13-pin connector gives direct access to Roland GR-Series synths and most other 13-pin synth gear, with tracking performance that’s earned Godin’s synth-ready instruments a strong reputation among players who need reliable pitch-to-MIDI response.
None of this would matter if the guitar didn’t play well, so Godin gave the xtSA the same 25½” scale mahogany neck found on their flagship LGX-SA. The ebony fingerboard uses Godin’s ergocut shaping with medium jumbo frets for a fast, comfortable feel. Under the finish, a silverleaf maple center with poplar wings forms the body, topped in this Natural Koa model with a highly figured koa top that gives the guitar its distinctive look.
