Description
The Godin A8 takes the acoustic mandolin blueprint and rebuilds it for players who need reliable amplified tone night after night. Its two-chambered silver leaf maple body is topped with solid spruce, tuned with a blend of X and fan bracing that keeps the instrument lively and resonant even before you plug in anything. A mahogany neck meets a flat Richlite fingerboard across 24 frets, giving fretting hands a fast, consistent surface with none of the seasonal movement you’d worry about with traditional wood boards.
Where the A8 really earns its reputation is under amplification. Individual RMC saddle transducers feed a custom RMC preamp voiced specifically for this instrument, translating the mandolin’s natural chime and bite into a plugged-in signal that avoids the thin, quacky character many piezo systems suffer from. A Graphtech nut and Graphtech Tusq bridge/tailpiece round out the hardware, and it ships strung with EJ74 strings (.011-.015-.026-.040) for balanced tension across the set.
This model comes finished in Cognac Burst with a high-gloss coat, and includes a VBGA8 gig bag for transport between gigs and rehearsals.
