Description
The Uptown Custom takes the 5th Avenue formula of comfortable playability and vintage-inspired style and adds a twist in the electronics. Rather than matching pickups, Godin paired a Kingpin P90 in the neck position with a Seymour Duncan ’59 Humbucker at the bridge, giving players access to both the airy, textured bite of a P90 and the thick, controlled output of a classic humbucker in one instrument. That kind of pickup contrast means you’re not locked into a single tonal identity — clean jazz voicings, gritty blues leads, and everything in between are all on the table.
Body and top are built from Canadian Wild Cherry, while the neck uses Silver Leaf Maple for a stable, resonant platform. A Richlite fingerboard with a 16″ radius keeps the feel smooth and consistent across the 21-fret neck, and the 24.84″ scale length lands in that sweet spot between traditional short-scale comfort and standard-scale tension. A Graphtech nut (1.72″ wide) helps with tuning stability, and the dual-ratio tuners — 18:1 on the bass side, 26:1 on the treble — offer precise adjustment where it matters most.
The Havana Brown finish rounds out the package, giving this hollow body a warm, understated look that suits its versatile voice.
