Leo Fender had a lot to say about single-cutaway bolt-on guitars, and the ASAT Classic Bluesboy Semi-Hollow is one of his more interesting final statements. G&L took the standard Bluesboy formula and opened it up—literally—by carving twin voice chambers into the swamp ash body and adding an f-hole. The result is a guitar that keeps the bite of a solid-body ASAT but softens the midrange punch, letting the low and high harmonics breathe a bit more.
Finished in Clear Orange over that swamp ash body, with a tinted gloss maple neck and matching maple fingerboard, it’s dressed up with a 3-ply cream pickguard for a look that’s equal parts vintage and vibrant.
Pickup-wise, this is classic G&L logic: an alnico humbucker at the neck for round, expressive warmth, and a single-coil MFD pickup at the bridge—designed by Leo Fender himself—for crisp, harmonically rich attack. That bridge pickup sits in a traditional boxed-steel bridge with individual brass saddles, giving you precise intonation without sacrificing character. Switch between them, blend them, and you’ll find this guitar covers far more ground than its classic looks suggest.
