Description
The Fullerton Deluxe ASAT Classic Bluesboy takes G&L’s beloved single-cutaway bolt-on design and gives it a pickup-swapped personality. Instead of the standard dual-single-coil layout, this Bluesboy variant drops in a G&L A2S4248N Alnico II humbucker at the neck, delivering the thick, charismatic warmth players chase for blues and rock leads. At the bridge sits a single-coil G&L Magnetic Field Design pickup, originally engineered by Leo Fender himself, mounted in a classic boxed-steel bridge with individual brass saddles for precise, modern intonation. The MFD pickup cuts through with bright attack and harmonic complexity, and blended with the neck ‘bucker, the two pickups open up a surprisingly wide tonal range from one guitar.
Each Bluesboy in this 2020 lineup pulls from G&L’s most requested Option Order combinations, matching finish, pickguard, and fingerboard wood with an eye for visual balance. The alder or swamp ash body is rear-contoured for comfort, and the hard-rock maple neck wears G&L’s Vintage Tint Satin finish with a 9 1/2″ fingerboard radius and Jescar 57110 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets, keeping the playing feel fast and forgiving.
Available configurations include:
- 3-Tone Sunburst over Alder, 3-ply parchment pickguard, maple or Caribbean rosewood fingerboard
- Jet Black over Alder, 3-ply parchment pickguard, maple or Caribbean rosewood fingerboard
- Himalayan Blue over Alder, 3-ply pearl pickguard, Caribbean rosewood fingerboard
- Butterscotch over Swamp Ash, 1-ply black pickguard, maple fingerboard
Built in the historic G&L facility on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California—the Birthplace of Bolt-on—since the company’s founding by Leo Fender in 1980.
