Description
The CLF Research S-500 digs into G&L’s late-1970s roots, drawing on the design language Leo Fender himself was refining at the time. It’s a guitar that wears its history openly while staying fully functional for modern players who want that era’s feel without the era’s inconsistencies.
The body is cut from okoume, mated to a hard-rock maple neck and a maple fingerboard — a combination that stays bright and articulate without ever feeling thin or brittle. Under the crinkle powder-coated aluminum pickguard sit three Magnetic Field Design (MFD) pickups wired in the classic SSS configuration, giving you the full spread of single-coil tones from glassy highs to a punchier middle position. G&L’s own Dual-Fulcrum vibrato handles pitch work while keeping tuning stability intact, and the headstock shape nods directly to an original G&L design from the company’s earliest days.
