Description
Robert Cray earned his reputation as a “strong persuader” of the blues with a Strat stripped of frills and tuned for tone, and this signature model puts his exact setup in your hands. The alder body and strings-through-body hardtail bridge lock in extra sustain and a tighter low end than a standard vibrato-equipped Strat, while a set of Fender Custom Shop vintage-style single-coil pickups deliver the airy, articulate voice that defines Cray’s playing.
The maple neck carries a comfortable C-shape profile with a 9.5″ radius rosewood fingerboard, medium jumbo frets, and white dot inlays – a combination built for fast chord work and expressive bends alike. A vintage-style four-bolt neck plate and synthetic bone nut round out a neck that feels as classic as it looks, right down to Cray’s signature inscribed on the headstock.
- Alder body finished in 3-Color Sunburst
- S/S/S pickup configuration with 5-position blade switching
- Master volume, two tone controls (neck and middle pickups)
- American Vintage strings-through-body hardtail bridge
- Vintage-style tuning machines and chrome hardware
- White plastic control knobs and switch tips
- Strung with Fender USA Super 250R strings (.010-.046)
Whether you’re chasing Cray’s smoky, horn-like phrasing or just want a no-nonsense Strat with rock-solid tuning stability, this Artist Series instrument delivers both the look and the voice.
