Built as a tribute to rockabilly and country legend James Burton, this Telecaster trades the standard Tele formula for something far more flexible. Under the eye-catching Blue Paisley Flames finish sits a basswood body paired with a 1-piece maple neck carved in the ’60s “U” shape – a fuller profile that fills the hand and suits players who like a substantial neck. The maple fingerboard carries a 9.5″ radius and 21 vintage frets, keeping the fretwork familiar to anyone coming from a classic Fender platform.
What sets this guitar apart electronically is the trio of specially designed James Burton blade pickups – one each at neck, middle, and bridge – wired through a 5-position Strat-o-Tele switch with an S-1 push switch built into the volume knob. That gives you the usual Tele-style single-pickup positions plus parallel combinations of bridge/middle, bridge/neck, and middle/neck, with the S-1 switch unlocking series wiring and middle-pickup-only options for even more tonal range. Master volume and master tone controls keep things simple at the surface.
Hardware is gold-plated throughout, including the Fender/Schaller deluxe cast/sealed tuning machines with pearl buttons, and strings load through an American Vintage Strat-style strings-through-body hardtail bridge for solid sustain and easy restringing. There’s no pickguard, letting the paisley flame finish take center stage.
