Description
Eric Clapton has spent decades chasing tone through this exact configuration, and Fender’s Artist Series recreation puts that setup in your hands. It starts with an alder body finished in Pewter, paired to a one-piece maple neck carved in Clapton’s preferred soft V shape – a profile that fills the palm without feeling bulky, ideal for chording low on the neck or reaching for bends up high.
Three Vintage Noiseless pickups deliver classic Strat quack and clarity without the 60-cycle hum that plagues traditional single coils. Behind them sits a control setup built for tonal range beyond the usual Strat playbook: a TBX tone circuit that sweeps from dark and rounded to bright and cutting, plus an active mid-boost circuit adding up to 25dB of midrange punch when you need the signal to push harder into an amp. The 5-position blade switch covers all the standard bridge/middle/neck combinations.
The bridge is a blocked American Vintage synchronized tremolo, meaning it’s set up to stay firmly anchored for stable tuning rather than floating for dive-bombs – a Clapton preference that keeps the guitar rock-solid live. Fender/Gotoh vintage-style tuners and chrome hardware round out the build, with a 1-ply white pickguard against the Pewter finish.
