Description
Fender didn’t reinvent the Telecaster so much as refine it — keeping what worked and quietly upgrading everything else. The result is the American Professional Telecaster in Sonic Gray, a guitar built for players who want vintage character without sacrificing modern playability.
At the heart of it are Tim Shaw’s V-Mod single-coil pickups, each voiced individually for its position with a custom blend of alnico magnets. Bridge and neck pickups work together through a 3-position blade switch to deliver everything from twangy bite to warmer, rounder tones, all with that unmistakable Fender clarity.
The neck wears a new “Deep C” profile — fuller than a Modern C, not quite a U — paired with narrow-tall frets that make string bends land accurately and chords ring true all the way up the 9.5″ radius rosewood fingerboard. A bone nut and Fender’s staggered sealed tuning machines keep tuning stable, while a treble-bleed circuit preserves top-end sparkle even as you roll off the volume.
Underneath, the redesigned bridge uses three compensated brass barrel saddles for improved intonation over vintage-style units, wrapped in a slimmer “ashtray” cover that stays clear of your palm-muting hand. It comes strung with Fender USA 250L NPS strings (.009-.042) and ships in an Elite Molded hardshell case with TSA-approved latches and stackable design.
