Description
Built in Fender’s Corona, CA facility, the American Performer Telecaster takes the blueprint that made this shape iconic and updates it with details that matter to working players. The alder body wears a Satin Polyurethane finish in Sonic Blue that looks vintage but feels contemporary, while the “Modern C”-shaped maple neck with a 9.5″ radius rosewood fingerboard makes chords and bends feel effortless across all 22 jumbo frets.
Underneath the white pickguard sit a pair of Yosemite single-coil pickups, voiced to deliver that unmistakable Tele bite with a bit more clarity and headroom than older designs. The Greasebucket tone circuit shapes your highs and lows without piling on midrange mud, so rolling back the tone knob thins things out musically rather than making your sound woolly. A 3-saddle, strings-through-body bridge locks in sustain and that classic snap, and the 3-way toggle switch gives you bridge, combined, or middle pickup selections through master volume and tone controls.
Fender’s ClassicGear tuning machines keep things stable at pitch, a synthetic bone nut and 1/8″ standard truss rod round out the setup essentials, and a silver ’70s-style logo nods to the model’s heritage without being fussy about it. Every American Performer Tele ships strung with Fender USA NPS strings (.009-.042) and comes housed in a Deluxe gig bag for transport to rehearsals, sessions, or gigs.
