Van Halen’s own design philosophy meets a hardtail setup on this EVH Wolfgang USA HT, finished in a striking 5A Flame Maple 3-Tone Sunburst over a basswood body. Swapping the Floyd Rose tremolo for a Gotoh hardtail bridge with fine tuners keeps intonation locked in and tuning stability at its peak, while the Floyd Rose R2 locking nut still lets you tune up fast and stay there.
The quartersawn maple neck is oil-finished for a fast, worn-in feel and reinforced with dual graphite rods to resist warping. Underneath your fingers sits an ebony fingerboard with a compound 12″-16″ radius, so chords ring clean up top and bends stay slinky as you move toward the upper frets. Twenty-two vintage stainless steel frets and dot inlays round out a board built for speed and longevity.
Tone comes from a pair of direct-mount EVH Wolfgang humbuckers wired through EVH’s reverse-style 3-way switching, giving you neck, both, or bridge in a logical, quick-access layout. Custom-wound low-friction volume and high-friction tone pots let you shape dynamics on the fly, whether you’re chasing brown-sound crunch or cleaning up for verses.
Details that carry the EVH stamp throughout: five-ply black/white binding on body and headstock, a chrome Schaller string retainer, EVH-branded tuners and truss rod wheel, and EVH strings strung at .009-.042 gauge from the factory. It ships in an EVH-branded SKB molded case for the road.
