Description
This EVH Stripe Series guitar wears the red-with-black-stripes livery that made Eddie Van Halen’s rig instantly recognizable, applied over a basswood body carved in a familiar Stratocaster shape. It’s a no-nonsense platform: one volume knob (oddly labeled “tone,” a nod to EVH’s own wiring quirks), a single-ply black pickguard, and a direct-mount Wolfgang humbucker that pushes out plenty of output for rock and hard rock tones without a selector switch to fuss over.
The neck is graphite-reinforced quartersawn maple with a hand-rubbed oil finish, giving it a fast, slightly worn-in feel rather than a glossy showroom sheen. A compound-radius maple fingerboard (12″ to 16″) flattens out as you move up the neck, which helps with bends and vibrato in the upper registers, and 22 jumbo frets with black dot inlays keep the fretwork chunky and easy to grip.
For the whammy-heavy side of Eddie’s playing style, there’s an EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking tremolo paired with the EVH D-Tuna for quick drop-D dives mid-song, plus a Floyd Rose locking nut and bar string retainer to keep tuning stable through aggressive use. EVH die-cast tuners, chrome hardware, vintage-style strap buttons, and an EVH neck plate round out the build, and it ships strung with EVH-branded strings (.009-.042).
