Description
The Squier Vintage Modified Jazzmaster brings back the offbeat charm of Fender’s original offset design while updating it for today’s players. Finished in a striking Sonic Blue over a basswood body, it keeps the quirky control layout that made the Jazzmaster famous: a rhythm circuit with its own black disc knobs and a separate lead circuit governed by white Strat-style knobs, tied together with a circuit selector and pickup toggle switch. Flip between neck-only, bridge-only, or both pickups engaged, and dial in tones that range from warm and woody to bright and cutting.
Powering the sound are Duncan Designed JM-101N and JM-101B single-coil Jazzmaster pickups loaded with Alnico 5 magnets, delivering the clear, present voice these pickups are known for. The maple neck wears a vintage-tint gloss finish and a Laurel fingerboard with a 9.5″ radius – flatter than a vintage original, making bends and chords feel more comfortable across all 21 medium jumbo frets marked with parchment dot inlays.
Hardware stays true to the model’s roots with a vintage-style floating vibrato (non-locking) paired to a vintage-style bridge, vintage-style chrome tuners, and a white-black-white pickguard that pops against the Sonic Blue finish. A four-bolt neck plate, PPS nut, and 25.5″ scale length round out the build.
