Description
The Precision Bass sound has anchored countless records and stages since it first appeared, and the SPB-1 Vintage is Seymour Duncan’s tribute to that original late-50s formula. Rather than chasing a modern voice, this pickup aims squarely at the past — bold, warm, and punchy, with enough clarity up top to keep your notes from turning to mud.
Duncan builds these split-coil units the old-fashioned way, a practice they’ve followed since 1978 when hand-crafting vintage Fender-style pickups. Each SPB-1 uses hand-ground alnico 5 rod magnets and a vintage-style coil wind, paired with Forbon flatwork matched in color and thickness to the originals. The bobbins are hand filed, assembled, and lacquered following the same steps used during Fender’s Golden Age.
- Hand-ground alnico 5 rod magnets for authentic vintage output
- Vintage coil winding for classic P-Bass warmth and thump
- Period-correct Forbon flatwork, hand filed and lacquered
- Waxed and tinned cloth pushback hook-up wires included
- Black non-logo covers included
- Direct drop-in fit for American Standard Precision Bass
Whether you’re restoring a vintage P-Bass or want an American Standard to finally sound like it should, the SPB-1 delivers that unmistakable balance of authority and articulation that made the Precision Bass a studio and stage staple.
