Description
The SH-4 JB Rails takes Seymour Duncan’s most iconic humbucker, the JB, and reworks it into a rail-style pickup that treats every string equally. Instead of traditional pole pieces, an Alnico VIII bar magnet spans the full width of the coil, evening out response across the fretboard and eliminating the string-to-string inconsistency that can crop up with standard humbucker designs.
- Retains the original JB’s aggressive top-end bite and low-end push, along with its boosted upper midrange
- Alnico VIII rail magnet delivers clear, articulate, well-balanced tone with strong sustain
- Pairs naturally with Seymour Duncan’s Jazz Rails neck pickup for a matched bridge/neck rail set
- Tonal character shifts with pot value: a 500k volume pot sharpens top-end definition, while a 250k pot rounds things out for a mellower voice
- 4-conductor, vacuum wax-potted lead wire resists microphonic squeal and opens up series, parallel, and split-coil wiring options
- Hand-built at Seymour Duncan’s Santa Barbara, California factory
- Offered in both 6-string and 7-string configurations
Whether you’re chasing the JB’s classic rock and metal pedigree or want a more even-sounding bridge pickup for modern high-gain rigs, the SH-4 JB Rails brings a familiar attitude with added clarity and flexibility for wiring setups.
