Description
Since 1986, Slash has tracked nearly every recording with one particular Les Paul®. The APH-2S Alnico II Pro Slash set was built to give his other guitars—the ones he actually tours with—that same signature voice, and it’s the same pickup found in Gibson’s current Slash model Les Paul.
- Tone profile: Warm and moderately hot, suited to jazz, blues, and classic rock textures where sustain and grit both matter.
- Construction: Built on the same Alnico 2 magnet as the standard APH-1, but wound a bit hotter to push a stock Les Paul into that sweet-sustain, rude-crunch territory that defines Slash’s playing across hundreds of tracks.
- Vintage-correct details: Single-conductor cable, long-legged bottom plate, and wooden spacer—matching the appointments found in Slash’s original ’86 recording guitar.
Run in pairs, these pickups nail the tone fans know from record after record, and they pair especially well with an all-tube overdrive/distortion stompbox for singing leads and full-bodied chords. Though voiced for a Les Paul, the set performs just as well in any balanced humbucker-loaded guitar, including hollow and semi-hollow bodies.
This listing is for the black finish set. The APH-2S is also offered in zebra and reverse zebra—Slash’s own recording guitar actually pairs a reverse zebra bridge pickup with a zebra neck pickup, and that combination is sold as a matched set if you want to replicate it exactly.
