Description
Left-handed guitarists often get an afterthought — the S-II Platinum LH is not that. Built in South Korea on a mahogany body with a flat top and beveled edges, it pairs comfort with a set-neck design engineered for genuine upper-fret reach, thanks to its Ultra Access neck joint.
The 3-piece maple neck wears a Thin ‘C’ profile, staying slim at .787″ by the 1st fret and easing to .866″ by the 12th, so chords and leads both feel natural under the hand. It’s capped with an ebony fretboard carrying 24 X-Jumbo frets across a 14″ radius, finished off with silver/platinum multi-ply binding and the distinctive Platinum ‘Tempest’ inlays. Scale length sits at the classic 24.75″, and a Graph Tech XL Black Tusq nut (1.653″ wide) keeps tuning stable at the front end, backed by a 2-way adjustable truss rod.
Tone comes from an EMG 57 in the bridge and EMG 66 in the neck — an active pairing known for tight low end, clear articulation, and output that cuts through a mix without noise. Simple controls (volume, tone, 3-way switch) keep things intuitive, and a 9-volt clip-in battery compartment powers the electronics. Hardware runs in satin chrome throughout, including Schecter locking tuners, a TonePros T3BT Tune-o-matic with T1Z tailpiece, and knurled metal knobs with set screws for a grip that won’t slip mid-set. It ships strung with Ernie Ball Regular Slinky #2221 strings (.010-.046).
