Description
The SE 245 Standard traces its roots to Paul Reed Smith’s own pre-factory builds, and that heritage shows in every detail. The all-mahogany body, bound and finished in gloss Tobacco Sunburst, delivers a dense, woody resonance that’s become a hallmark of PRS tone. Paired with dual 245 “S” humbuckers wired to a 3-way switch and individual volume/tone controls, it covers everything from thick rock crunch to cleaner, articulate voicings without losing character.
The set-in neck uses a Wide Fat profile over a rosewood fretboard, dressed with PRS’s signature bird inlays and medium-jumbo frets across 22 positions. What really sets the feel apart is the 24.5″ scale length — shorter than standard, it eases string tension so bends come easier and chording feels more relaxed, especially for players with smaller hands or those coming from other instruments.
Hardware is kept simple and reliable: a fixed bridge with stopbar tailpiece for solid sustain and tuning stability, plus sealed tuning machines that hold pitch through long sets. The nut sits at 1.69″ wide, and a dual-action truss rod keeps setup adjustments straightforward over time.
