Built alongside Periphery’s Mark Holcomb, the SE Mark Holcomb SVN is PRS’s answer to modern extended-range players who need more than a standard 7-string can offer. The 26.5″ scale length adds tension and clarity to low string riffing without sacrificing feel higher up the neck, while the wide thin satin maple neck keeps fast passages effortless under the hand. A 20″ radius ebony fretboard, bound and inlaid with PRS’s signature birds, spans 24 frets for full access across the range.
Tone comes from Holcomb’s own Seymour Duncan Alpha and Omega 7-string pickup set, voiced for both articulate chord work and cutting single-note lines. A 3-way blade switch pairs with a push/pull tone knob for coil-splitting, so you can move from thick humbucker output to snappier single-coil tones without reaching for a different guitar. The string-through, plate-style 7-string bridge adds sustain and stability, and blacked-out hardware keeps the look cohesive against this walnut satin finish’s veneer.
Under the shallow violin-carve maple top sits a mahogany back for balanced resonance, rounding out a build designed for players pushing into heavier, lower-tuned territory without giving up nuance.
