The Vela shook things up when PRS first released it, breaking from tradition with an offset shape that felt more vintage garage-rock than modern superstrat. The S2 Vela Semi-Hollow builds on that original spark, pairing a mahogany body and neck with a rosewood fingerboard for a warm, woody foundation that only gets better once the semi-hollow chambering opens up the resonance.
Plugged in, the pickup pairing does a lot of the heavy lifting. A coil-tapped Vela humbucker sits at the bridge, ready to switch from full-throated growl to a leaner, single-coil-flavored bite, while a Type-D single-coil at the neck adds jangle and clarity for cleaner, chimier tones.
