Description
Strip away the frills and you’re left with what actually matters: wood, wire, and tone. The S2 Standard 24 pairs a solid mahogany body with a set mahogany neck, a combination that delivers deep resonance and sustain that keeps ringing long after you’d expect it to fade. That mahogany warmth forms the foundation for PRS’s HFS and Vintage Bass pickups, a set voiced to bring out cutting highs and thick midrange without ever feeling harsh – equally happy running straight into a clean amp or getting pushed through a wall of pedals.
PRS traces this shape back to 1987, when the original Standard grew out of Paul Reed Smith’s early Pre-Factory mahogany builds. The S2 version keeps that lineage alive at a more accessible price point, wearing its pickguard-mounted electronics and unadorned mahogany finish like a badge of honor for musicians who’d rather let the playing speak than the appointments.
This particular example wears a McCarty Tobacco Sunburst finish over the mahogany grain.
