Description
The Jackson KEXMG Kelly is a purpose-built metal machine, pairing the brand’s sharp-angled Kelly body with a neck-through design for maximum sustain and effortless upper-fret access. A basswood body keeps things light and resonant, while the three-piece maple neck runs straight through the body, reinforced with graphite for rock-solid stability under heavy string tension and aggressive dive-bombs.
Up top, the bound rosewood fingerboard uses a compound radius that starts rounder near the nut for comfortable chording and flattens out toward the upper frets for smooth, buzz-free bending. 24 jumbo frets and pearloid sharkfin inlays give it that unmistakable Jackson look, while the white neck and headstock binding adds a sharp contrast against the black finish and matching black headstock.
Electronics come from EMG, with an 81 in the bridge for tight, high-output aggression and an 85 in the neck for warmer leads and thick rhythm tones. A simple volume/tone layout with a 3-way blade switch keeps things intuitive on stage. Locking down the low end and high-speed vibrato work is a Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo, paired with a Floyd Rose Special locking nut for tuning stability during whammy-heavy playing.
