The G9520E Gin Rickey draws its DNA straight from the old Gretsch Rex parlor guitars, the small-bodied instruments that powered early roadhouse and speakeasy sessions. It’s built to feel just as at home on a porch as it is running through an amp.
The X-braced basswood body delivers a surprisingly big, resonant voice for its compact size, while the “C”-profile nato neck joins at the 12th fret for a warm, woody midrange character. Players get a 24″ scale, 12″ radius walnut fingerboard loaded with 18 vintage-style frets and pearloid dot inlays, plus a synthetic bone nut for clean, consistent tuning. Down at the bridge, a top-load walnut design with a compensated synthetic bone saddle keeps intonation solid across the whole neck.
Plugging in reveals the Gretsch Deltoluxe magnetic soundhole pickup, tuned to capture a bright, throaty tone that translates well whether you’re strumming clean or pushing some grit. The gold-and-white rosette ringing the pickup adds a nice visual touch to match the rest of the trim.
Cosmetically, this one leans hard into vintage cool: aged white body binding, an aged white “G”-graphic pickguard, gold double-line top striping, and nickel hardware, all wrapped in a striking Smokestack Black finish. Vintage-style open-gear die-cast tuners and old-school end-pin strap buttons round out the period-correct details.
