Description
The G6131T-TVP Power Jet Firebird takes the classic Jet formula and cranks the aggression, thanks to a pair of TV Jones Power’Tron pickups voiced hotter than the standard Filter’Trons. Under the firebird red top and gloss black back sits a lightweight semi-hollow mahogany body with an arched laminated maple top, giving the guitar resonance without the bulk. Multiple body and headstock binding, a pearloid Gretsch logo, and a silver plexi pickguard round out the visual details.
The one-piece mahogany neck carries an ebony fingerboard with Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays, 22 medium jumbo frets, and a 12-inch radius that keeps chords and single-note runs feeling equally natural. A 24.6-inch scale length and 1.6875-inch nut width strike a comfortable middle ground for players moving between electric styles.
Controls are straightforward but flexible: independent volume knobs for neck and bridge pickups, a master volume, and a 3-position tone switch that ranges from a warm rolled-off voice to the pickups running wide open. The pinned rosewood-based Adjusto-Matic bridge pairs with a Bigsby B3C vibrato for pitch-bending shimmer, while Sperzel locking tuners keep things in tune despite the moves.
- Chrome hardware throughout, including “G” arrow control knobs
- Schaller strap locks for secure gigging
- Ships in a G6238 deluxe hardshell case
This is a guitar for players chasing that snarling rockabilly-meets-rock edge without giving up Gretsch’s signature semi-hollow feel.
