Description
If you want the shimmer of a 12-string paired with genuine Gretsch hollow-body character, the G5422G-12 Electromatic delivers it without compromise. This double-cut hollow body pulls from ’50s and ’60s design cues while packing modern refinements that make it feel like a true next step up in the Gretsch lineup.
The body is laminated maple with vintage-shaped perimeters and gently refined arches. Inside, new trestle block bracing ties the top and back together more rigidly than before, tightening up the response and cutting down on unwanted feedback — the payoff is a faster attack, sharper focus, and longer sustain across all twelve strings. Driving that tone are the all-new FT-5E Filter’Tron pickups, which push out a big, chimey punch with plenty of clarity and note separation, exactly what a jangly 12-string calls for.
Playability comes from an all-new Classic “C”-shaped maple neck topped with a 12-inch radius laurel fingerboard and pearloid Hump Block inlays, giving it a comfortable, fast feel under the hand. Wiring is more flexible than you might expect from a vintage-styled guitar — master volume with a treble bleed circuit, master tone, individual volume controls for each pickup, and a three-position pickup switch let you dial in a wide range of tones on the fly.
Other details round out the vintage-modern package nicely:
- Oversized bound F-holes and multi-ply body binding
- Smaller late-’50s style G6120 bound headstock
- Sealed die-cast tuners and a Graph Tech NuBone nut
- Adjusto-Matic bridge with secured laurel base and Gretsch G-cutout tailpiece
- Gold hardware and gold pickguard
Finished here in Single Barrel Burst (also available in Walnut Stain), this is a hollow body ready to bring genuine chime and rock ‘n’ roll attitude to your rig.
