The G5191BK carries the Rancid founder’s namesake in a single-cutaway hollow body finished in an ominous flat black, built to deliver the huge, resonant tone that comes from a fully hollow chamber. Parallel tone bar bracing with an internal sound post keeps the body focused rather than woolly, while bound f-holes and 4-ply body binding round out a construction that’s as much about craft as it is about attitude.
Dual “Black Top” Filter’Tron pickups sit under gold-plated bezels, giving you that classic Gretsch snap and jangle with extra bite on tap. A three-position toggle lets you jump between bridge, neck, or both, with independent volume and tone controls for each pickup plus a master volume for quick level changes mid-set.
The one-piece maple neck is dressed with a bound rosewood fingerboard, acrylic block inlays, and a white graphite nut for smooth, stable tuning. Grover Sta-Tite tuners and an Adjusto-Matic bridge on a harp tailpiece keep things locked in, while the bound headstock displays a pearloid Gretsch logo above Armstrong’s own signature on the truss rod cover—a small detail that makes clear whose blueprint this is.
