Description
The G2420T Streamliner takes the classic Gretsch hollow body formula and pushes it toward heavier, more contemporary territory. This single-cutaway model pairs an arched laminated maple body with a pair of Broad’Tron BT-2S humbuckers, pickups built specifically for the Streamliner line to deliver tighter low end, clear top end, and a midrange that growls rather than warbles. Compared to older Gretsch pickups, these run hotter and hold their focus at higher gain, so the guitar tracks equally well for jangly chord work and riff-driven rock.
The nato neck carries a thin “U” profile that feels quick under the hand, finished with a 12-inch radius laurel fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and pearloid Hump Block inlays. A synthetic bone nut and an Adjusto-Matic bridge seated on a secured laurel base keep tuning stable, while the Bigsby-licensed B60 vibrato tailpiece adds pitch-bending shimmer without sacrificing that stability. Controls follow Gretsch’s familiar layout: independent volume for neck and bridge pickups, a master volume, master tone, and three-way switching, all wearing vintage-style black knobs.
Visually, the G2420T checks every classic Gretsch box – aged white body and neck binding with upgraded purfling, enlarged F-holes for extra acoustic bloom, a three-ply tortoise pickguard, and nickel hardware throughout, finished in a striking Candy Apple Red gloss.
