The 2020 Fullerton Deluxe Legacy HSS takes G&L’s most beloved Option Order combinations and rolls them into one guitar, mixing ’60s tone with ’90s attitude under a Clear Tint Satin finish that runs all the way up the neck.
Designed by G&L VP of Engineering Paul Gagon, this Legacy variant swaps the standard bridge single coil for a G&L AW4470 alnico humbucker, paired with vintage-style alnico G&L CLF-100 single coils in the neck and middle. The result is a guitar that can go from glassy and chiming to thick and driven without missing a beat — and thanks to the coil-split function on the bridge pickup, you can pull convincing single-coil harmonics out of that humbucker whenever you need them.
Every core Legacy feature carries over here, including Leo Fender’s PTB (Passive Treble and Bass) system, which works across all three pickups and gives you far more tonal shaping than a typical vintage tone control — separate knobs let you cut treble and bass independently. The Dual-Fulcrum vibrato, another Leo Fender design, delivers rock-solid pitch stability for aggressive bends and dives, all through a smooth, beefy aluminum arm. Up top, a hard-rock maple neck with a satin finish, 9 1/2″ radius, and Jescar 57110 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets keeps the playing feel fast and comfortable.
This Electric Blue finish is paired with an alder body, a 3-ply pearl pickguard, and a maple fingerboard.
The Legacy HSS borrows contemporary refinements from the Leo Fender-designed S-500 and Comanche models while staying rooted in classic Alnico V tone — a strong pick for anyone chasing authentic single-coil character with the option of extra output when the moment calls for it.
