Description
The Fullerton Deluxe ASAT Classic Bluesboy takes G&L’s beloved single-cutaway bolt-on design and reworks the pickup lineup for players who want humbucker warmth without giving up single-coil bite. A G&L A2S4248N Alnico II humbucker sits in the neck for smooth, thick tone, while the bridge carries a single-coil G&L Magnetic Field Design pickup originally engineered by Leo Fender himself. Mounted in a classic boxed-steel bridge with individually adjustable brass saddles, that MFD pickup cuts through with sharp attack and rich harmonic detail, and the two pickups together open up a wider tonal palette than a typical ASAT.
This 2020 Deluxe run draws from some of G&L’s most requested Option Order combinations, each pairing a body finish with a pickguard chosen to complement it. Bodies are alder or swamp ash with a contoured back for comfort, and all necks wear G&L’s Vintage Tint Satin finish.
- 3-Tone Sunburst over Alder, 3-ply parchment pickguard, maple or Caribbean rosewood fingerboard
- Jet Black over Alder, 3-ply parchment pickguard, maple or Caribbean rosewood fingerboard
- Himalayan Blue over Alder, 3-ply pearl pickguard, Caribbean rosewood fingerboard
- Butterscotch over Swamp Ash, 1-ply black pickguard, maple fingerboard
The hard-rock maple neck is shaped for easy playing, with a 9 1/2″ fingerboard radius and Jescar 57110 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets that keep bends and lead lines feeling effortless.
Built in the historic G&L facility on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California — the company Leo Fender founded in 1980 and often called the Birthplace of Bolt-on — this guitar carries forward his final take on the traditional bolt-on electric.
