Description
Richie Kotzen spent years wowing fans of Poison, Mr. Big, and his own solo work with a Telecaster sound that’s equal parts twang and shred. Originally a Japan-only release, his signature model is now available globally, built around an ash body topped with a flame maple cap finished in Brown Sunburst, complete with a bound body edge, rear belly cut, and top contour for comfortable playing.
The satin maple neck wears a large “C” profile that fills the hand nicely, paired with a 12″ radius maple fingerboard, 22 jumbo frets, and pearloid dot inlays. At 25.5″ scale with a 1.650″ nut width, it plays fast without feeling cramped. Richie’s signature graces the headstock front, and a reversed control plate adds a nod to the model’s distinctive look.
Tone comes from a DiMarzio DP173 Twang King in the neck and a DiMarzio DP384 Chopper T in the bridge, controlled via a 3-way blade switch with a barrel-style tip and a master volume knob. A rotary series/parallel switch expands the sonic range further, letting you dial in everything from glassy cleans to thicker, humbucker-like output.
Rounding out the build: a single-ply cream pickguard, gold six-saddle string-through-body Telecaster bridge, Gotoh sealed tuners, synthetic bone nut, and gold hardware throughout for a look as premium as the tone.
