Description
Built as a tribute to Jimmie Vaughan’s stripped-down, tone-first approach, this Artist Series Stratocaster trades flash for feel. The alder body pairs with a one-piece maple neck carved into a special soft “V” shape, satin polyurethane finished and topped with a maple fingerboard at a 9.5″ radius. Twenty-one medium jumbo frets give you room to bend and dig in, while the 1-11/16″ nut width and 25.5″ scale keep things feeling like a classic Strat in your hands.
The magic is in the pickups. Two calibrated, overwound Tex-Mex single-coils sit in the neck and middle, while a hotter Tex-Mex pickup with special wiring holds down the bridge – the combination that gives this guitar its signature snarl and southwestern edge. Controls are simplified on purpose: master volume, a tone knob for the neck pickup, another for the bridge, and the middle pickup left wide open with no tone control at all, just like Jimmie wanted it. A 5-position blade switch covers all the standard Strat pickup combinations.
Vintage-style touches round out the build:
- American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge
- Fender/Gotoh vintage-style tuning machines
- Chrome hardware and a 1-ply white pickguard
- Fender/Schaller straplock buttons
- Jimmie Vaughan’s signature stamped on the back of the headstock
- U.S.-made electronic components
Finished in Olympic White with a polyester topcoat, it ships strung with Fender Super 250L nickel-plated strings (.009-.042) and comes in a deluxe gig bag, ready to go.
