Description
The Duo-Sonic HS proves that a compact body doesn’t mean compact tone. Rooted in a design that dates back to 1956, this reworked version pairs a student-friendly 24″ scale with grown-up sound, making it a favorite for players who want something a little different from the usual full-size Strat or Tele.
Under the hood you get an HS pairing: a Duo-Sonic single-coil at the neck and a Duo-Sonic humbucker at the bridge, the latter with coil-split access via a push/pull tone knob. That means you can go from a fat, humbucking bridge tone to a snappier single-coil voice without swapping guitars. A three-way toggle handles the usual bridge/both/neck combinations, while a six-saddle hardtail bridge—strung through the body—delivers firm tuning stability and a noticeable boost in sustain.
The maple neck wears a modern “C” profile, a 9.5″ radius, and 22 medium jumbo frets, shaped for players who like resting a thumb along the back of the neck. Pau Ferro fingerboard, aged white dot inlays, and a satin polyurethane neck finish round out the feel. The alder body wears a Daphne Blue gloss polyester finish with a 3-ply mint green pickguard, and a nickel/chrome neck plate carries an engraved Fender “F” for a nice classic touch.
