Description
The American Standard Stratocaster HSS takes Fender’s classic recipe and adds some muscle where it counts. You still get the familiar Alder body and Modern “C” shaped Maple neck that Strat players have leaned on for decades, but the bridge position now houses a Fender Diamondback humbucking pickup for added output and grit alongside the Custom Shop Fat ’50s single-coils in the neck and middle. It’s a setup that lets you dial in glassy in-between tones one moment and cut through a dense mix the next.
Under the hood, Fender made some quiet but meaningful upgrades. New bent steel saddles with elongated string slots and a copper-infused, high-mass 100% metal bridge block improve sustain and stability, while a thinner undercoat finish lets the body breathe and resonate more freely. The neck carries a subtle tint, and aged white plastic parts on the knobs, switch tips, and 3-ply parchment pickguard give the whole guitar a lived-in, vintage-correct look straight out of the case.
Playability stays true to form with a 25.5″ scale, 9.5″ radius Rosewood fingerboard, 22 medium jumbo frets, and a synthetic bone nut. The 2-point synchronized tremolo with a 4-bolt Micro-Tilt neck plate keeps tuning stable through aggressive whammy use, and the 5-position blade switch gives you full access to all three pickups and their combinations.
