Few guitars carry the mythology of Eddie Van Halen’s Frankenstein creation, and the EVH Striped Series Frankie brings that legacy within reach of everyday players. Finished in the unmistakable red with white-and-black stripes and given a genuine worn-in relic treatment, this guitar looks like it’s already survived a thousand shows.
Underneath the paint sits a basswood Stratocaster-style body mated to a graphite-reinforced quartersawn maple neck. The back of the neck wears an oiled finish for a fast, natural feel, while the 12″-16″ compound radius maple fingerboard and 22 jumbo frets are built for players who like to move quickly up and down the neck.
Electronics follow Eddie’s original HSS routing: an EVH Wolfgang humbucking bridge pickup handles the tone-shaping duties, flanked by a dummy Strat-style neck pickup and a non-functional five-way blade in the middle position for authentic looks without extra switching complexity.
Tuning stability comes courtesy of an EVH-branded Floyd Rose locking trem paired with a Floyd Rose locking nut, so aggressive whammy use won’t knock you out of pitch. The EVH D-Tuna lets you drop into D and snap back to standard tuning instantly, mid-song if needed.
