Long before he was reaching for a Rickenbacker or a rosewood Tele, George Harrison leaned on a secondhand 1957 Duo Jet he’d picked up in the early ’60s — the guitar he later called his first real decent instrument. The G6128T-GH is Gretsch’s tribute to that exact guitar, right down to the quirks Harrison’s own Jet picked up over the years.
The body is a lightweight, mid-’50s-style chambered build: arched maple top over mahogany back and sides, finished all in black including the back of the one-piece mahogany neck. You’ll also find the offset strap button on the lower bout and the black Phillips-head pivot bolt on the Bigsby B3C tailpiece — both details lifted straight from Harrison’s original.
Up top, a 22-fret rosewood board with a 12″ radius carries pearloid hump-block inlays, bound in single-ply white along with the headstock. Three-ply white-black-white body binding wraps the edges for that classic Gretsch look. Twin DynaSonic single-coil pickups deliver the snappy, articulate bite this guitar is known for, routed through a 3-position toggle and independent neck/bridge volume controls plus master volume and tone.
Rounding things out: a vintage-style rocking bar bridge on a rosewood base, silver plexi pickguard, chrome-plated Grover V98CM Sta-Tite tuners, and Gretsch’s signature “G” arrow control knobs. Harrison’s signature appears on the truss rod cover, and the guitar ships in a premium tweed case.
