The Telecaster earned its reputation as the working guitarist’s guitar decades ago, and the Classic Vibe ’50s edition keeps that spirit alive without the vintage price tag. Finished in Butterscotch Blonde over a pine body, it pairs a gloss-finished maple neck (Modern “C” shape, 9.5″ radius, 21 medium-jumbo frets) with a set of custom Alnico 5 single-coil Tele pickups. Rather than mimicking the icy twang of the standard Vintage Blonde model, these pickups lean into warmth and clarity while still snapping hard enough for country runs, blues bends, rock chords, or jazz chords.
Hardware stays true to the era: a 3-saddle strings-through-body bridge with brass barrel saddles, vintage-style tuners, a synthetic bone nut, and chrome knurled dome knobs. Master volume, master tone, and a 3-position blade switch keep the controls simple and immediate.
Bundled in is the MXR M78 Custom Badass ’78 Distortion — a hot-rodded take on a classic distortion circuit built for amp-stack-sized tones and old-school tube-like grit. Three knobs keep it fast to dial in, and the CRUNCH switch flips between two clipping modes (diode and LED) to shift the harmonic character of the distortion. It sits well in front of a clean amp for added push, or stacks with dirty and overdriven amps for something heavier.
