Description
The American Special Series takes the essential Stratocaster formula and builds it stateside without the premium price tag usually attached to a U.S.-made instrument. This one pairs an alder body with a maple neck, giving it that snappy, resonant character players expect from a great Strat.
Under the hood sit three Texas Special single-coils wired through a 5-position blade switch, so you get the full range of classic Strat tones from biting bridge quack to warm neck-pickup sweetness. Fender’s Greasebucket tone circuit is on board too, rolling off high end without piling on extra bass – a subtle but useful tweak for shaping your sound on the fly.
Playability gets some real attention here. The Modern “C”-shaped neck has a 9.5″ fingerboard radius and jumbo frets, making bends and fast runs feel effortless, while the large ’70s-style headstock gives it a bit of vintage flair. A vintage-style synchronized tremolo and synthetic bone nut round out the hardware, and the satin urethane finish keeps things feeling fast and unfussy rather than glossy and slick.
