Description
Built for the guitarist who handpicked Ozzy Osbourne’s stage over a decade of touring and studio work with Firewind, Arch Enemy, and Dream Evil, the Jackson X Series Gus G. Star is a purpose-built weapon for high-gain riffing. The angular Star body shape is one of Jackson’s earliest avant-garde designs, reborn here in a satin black finish streaked with white pinstripes.
A one-piece maple neck runs straight through the mahogany body, reinforced with graphite rods and a scarf joint for stability under heavy string tension and aggressive playing. The 12″ radius rosewood fingerboard is bound in white and loaded with 24 jumbo frets, giving you room to run wide bends and rapid-fire lead lines all the way up the neck, with pearloid sharkfin inlays marking your position along the way.
Tone comes from a matched pair of Seymour Duncan Gus G. Signature Blackouts AHB-11S pickups in the bridge and neck, an active humbucker set voiced specifically for Gus G.’s cutting lead tone and tight low-end chug. Controls are kept simple with a single master volume and a three-way toggle switching between bridge, both pickups, or neck.
Hardware includes a Jackson compensated and adjustable bridge with anchored tailpiece for solid tuning stability, Jackson die-cast locking tuners, and a pointed 6-in-line headstock finished in black hardware throughout.
