Description
Take the Strat you already know and love, then hand it a Floyd Rose double-locking tremolo built for serious pitch-bending and dive-bombing without losing tune. The Player Stratocaster HSS Floyd Rose in Sonic Red keeps that unmistakable bell-like top end and punchy midrange, but the humbucker in the bridge adds thickness and warmth for players who need more muscle for rock and beyond.
Under the hood, Fender’s Player Series pickups do the heavy lifting: an Alnico 2 humbucker at the bridge for big, saturated tone, and Alnico 5 single-coils in the middle and neck for that crisp, articulate Strat sparkle. Flip through the 5-way switch and you’ve got everything from full humbucker growl to split-coil clarity to the classic in-between quack.
The alder body wears a gloss polyester finish, while the Modern “C”-shaped maple neck feels fast and familiar under the hand, finished in satin on the back for a smooth grip. Fender stretched the fingerboard to 22 medium jumbo frets on a 12″ radius pau ferro board, giving you a little extra real estate and easy bends clear up the neck. The Floyd Rose locking nut and double-locking bridge system lock the strings down tight, so aggressive tremolo use won’t knock you out of tune.
Rounding things out: master volume and dual tone controls, a 3-ply black/white/black pickguard, synthetic bone nut, sealed tuning machines, dual-wing string tree, and the four-bolt “F”-stamped neck plate that’s become a hallmark of the Player Series.
